Ravindra Patil, Salman Khan’s bodyguard was the prime witness in this still pending criminal case. He was sitting beside Khan when he drove over five pedestrians, one of whom succumbed to his injuries.
It was Patil who had launched the initial FIR against Khan. In his statement to the earlier court, he said he had warned the actor to drive slowly as he was in an inebriated state. However, Khan did not heed the warning.
Patil was under extreme pressure to withdraw or change his statement. Apparently, trying to evade Khan's lawyers and harassment from within the police force, he was arrested in 2006 for failing to turn up as a witness in court.
Later, he was found on the streets suffering from tuberculosis for two years. He was admitted into a hospital where he died.
This is where an honest man stands in the face of power and money.
